It's that time of year again -- time to get ready for the Fall Science, Engineering, & Technology (S.E.T.) Career Fair happening later this month at USC-Columbia. The S.E.T. Fair continues to your best opportunity as a Computational Science (CSCI) student to find a multitude of internship and full-time job opportunities with both large and small companies that need people with strong computing skills. A substantial proportion of USCB CSCI students and grads embarked on their career paths by attending the S.E.T. Fair, so if you're looking for a job in the tech industry, your odds are greatly improved if you attend the S.E.T. Fair as well.
On Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 5:30pm (in HARG162, the CSCI computer lab), please join Dr. Canada and your fellow CSCI students for a one-hour session on preparing for the Fall 2017 S.E.T. Fair, including how to get started with creating a résumé that's appropriate for landing an internship or full-time job in the technology industry. In addition, you'll learn all about the S.E.T. Fair and how to make the best use of your time and experience.
This "Part 1" session is suited mainly for CSCI students who aren't sure how to get started with making a résumé and/or are unfamiliar with how the S.E.T. Fair works. Dr. Canada will distribute specially-designed résumé templates that you can use to help you get started.
Later, during the week of September 18-22, we will hold a "Part 2" session where you'll bring your draft résumé and have it critiqued in breakout groups with students who have gone through the interview and job placement process.
This event is open to both ACM Members and Non-Members alike!
